Wide Awake is an experimental theatre piece using movement and storytelling to explore how emotions impact the body and have the potential to dictate the course of our lives.
Inspired by Bessel van der Kolk's groundbreaking book The Body Keeps the Score, Wide Awake is created and performed by RADA graduates Helen Percival and Gen Labuschagne.
Genevieve Labuschagne is an actor and trained dancer with extensive experience in choreography and physical theatre and Helen Percival is an actor, writer and published poet.
The piece draws on their own personal explorations of how life experiences and societal expectations can become lodged in the body and then inform how we move through the world. From utmost joy, to deep shame and sadness, Wide Awake invites audiences to embrace the full spectrum of their emotional capacity and as a result to live and feel more deeply.
