Brewtopia is an intimate two-hander fusing absurdist tradition with emotional realism to ask: what does it really mean to help someone?
On the streets of London, Arjun, a homeless tea connoisseur, refuses mediocre comfort in favour of something richer. With every carefully brewed cup, a park bench becomes a throne, steam becomes incense, and he is transformed into a maharaja in a palace of jasmine air. Tea, for Arjun, is ritual, and his moment of joy.
Enter Claire, a diligent outreach worker determined to do right by him. But every form she files and every offer of housing she makes threatens the very imagination that keeps Arjun whole. When she finally succeeds, something unexpected is lost.
Brewtopia, the second play in the Emotional Absurdia trilogy, is an unsettling meditation on dignity, autonomy and the cost of help given on someone else's terms.
