The Radical Wedding Engine is a live performance R&D that treats the wedding ceremony as a machine to be broken, rewired, and reimagined. We remix a global scrap-heap of wedding ritual: Chinese banquet etiquette, dress codes, ceremonial gestures, and bureaucratic formality and re-present them through clown, audiovisual and participatory games, with audiences cast as friends, relatives and endeared guests.
We’re transforming, parodying and playing with a structure designed to legitimize, organize, certify and make public something private and messy, while also taking inspiration from its celebratory form.
