Brewtopia is an intimate two-hander fusing absurdist tradition with emotional realism to ask: how much of our happiness lives in the smallest, most ordinary things?
On the streets of London, Arjun, a homeless tea connoisseur, has built his world around one simple daily pleasure: brewing the perfect cup of tea. With every carefully measured leaf and curl of steam, a park bench becomes a throne, steam becomes incense, and he is transformed into a maharaja in a palace of jasmine air. For Arjun, brewing tea is more than habit. It is ritual - a small, everyday act that gives him joy, meaning and something to look forward to.
Enter Claire, a diligent outreach worker determined to find him a more secure life. Gradually, Arjun's circumstances change. But when the simple ritual that has sustained him is disrupted, something far greater than a cup of tea is lost.
Brewtopia, the second play in the Emotional Absurdia trilogy, is a bittersweet meditation on the small pleasures and everyday rituals that quietly keep us going, and what happens when something seemingly insignificant, but precious enough to make life joyful, suddenly disappears.
