Comfort is a fictional retelling inspired by the true stories of Filipino "Comfort Women"—young girls abducted and forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II.

This educational play explores beyond the battlefield to reveal a side of war often forgotten: the innocent lives who witness its conflict and devastation. Comfort seeks to shed light on this dark chapter in history while honouring the strength and resilience of the women who lived through it.

As they attempt to reclaim their voices and share their truths, Comfort invites audiences to learn, laugh, and grieve with them. It is a story of survival, humanity, and the grey complexities of war—and above all, of hope.

At its core, Comfort challenges us to confront the horrors of war—not only in its violence, but in the lives forever changed in its wake.
