Barons Court

PROGRAMMING AIMS

For the Voila Festival, we are looking for shows with a ‘foreign’ / outside of the UK element, especially outside of the English speaking world. This can be through language, story, the writer, part or all of the cast and crew. Shows from English speaking makers will also be considered (eg US, Canada, Australia).

TYPES OF PERFORMANCE THE VENUE IS SUITABLE FOR

Barons Court is a deep thrust, so the plays that work best embrace the closeness and intimacy between performers and audience. We recommend a maximum of 6 performers and keeping set building to a minimum.

Our very atmospheric setting lends itself to pieces that take full advantage of the space they take place in.

Barons Court Theatre is a deep thrust with the audience on 3 sides and a 4m x 3m stage, so not suitable for big ensembles, casts of more than 8 or dance pieces.

DATES OF FESTIVAL PERFORMANCES

Barons Court Theatre will programme Voila! Festival performances from 3 – 22 November 2026.

NUMBER OF PERFORMANCES

We are guided by the artists in the number of performances, and we ask companies to estimate this based on the number of tickets they are confident in selling. Typical runs tend to be either 5-6 performances or 1-3, especially weekends daytime.

RUNNING TIMES

Around 60 minutes, though it can be slightly longer if the setup and packing up are quick. The set and tech should be kept as simple as possible to ensure a quick turnaround for the next show.

TECH TIMES

We offer each company a 4 hours tech slot free of charge.

TURNAROUND TIMES & VENUE ACCESS

We program 2 hour slots. Access will be no later than 30 minutes before show start, and take down should be around 15 minutes.

The dressing room is shared with other companies, so tidiness and respect for other people’s property is essential.

We are a pub theatre, and we deeply regret that the theatre is not easily accessible to everyone. There is a flight of stairs down to the theatre, a step up to the door, a step down into the venue. There are also steps in and out of the dressing rooms to the stage. If you have access requirements, please let us know.

TECHNICIANS

Companies are free to bring their technicians. We can provide a technician on request to plot lights, create a QLab file and operate the show, at £15/hour.

FINANCIAL DEAL

Please note, the venue’s financial deal is separate from the festival registration fee.

Hire fee: £100/performance, £100 non-refundable deposit which will act as payment for the first performance in the settlement. (2 hour slot which must include setup, 15 minutes for house opened pre-show, performance and packing up).

Deposit: £100

Capacity: 52

Ticket price & booking fees: Recommended ticket prices are £15/£10.

VAT: VAT is not applicable.
