The pandemic has presented a challenge and an opportunity to expand what we mean by “theatre.” With our online programming, we aim to preserve theatre’s liveness and create a sense of community between artists and audiences. As a multidisciplinary festival, we are also interested in the intersection of theatre and film, mixing live and pre-recorded material.
Consider the trade-offs between live online performance vs streaming a pre-recorded performance. If it’s live, the audience can interact with and influence the show and the performers. If it’s pre-recorded, there’s less risk of something going wrong, and you may be able to use more cinematic techniques and visual effects. We can create an opportunity for the audience to gather together at a live watch party to view the pre-recorded video.
Please let us know why you think a pre-recorded performance and live watch party is the best format for your show in your application.
