Zoo Indigo search for their Irish, German, Hungarian and Czech roots in a Brexit-ridden Britain, auditioning for a motherland through a series of citizenship catwalks to live music. This concert that never quite happens grieves the loss of identity, home, and the Eurovision song contest, in a playful and provocative exploration of cultural belonging.
Zoo Indigo are a Nottingham based Anglo-German performance duo. The company's performances playfully challenge perceptions of gender, cultural identity and migration. Ridiculous, surreal and deadly serious, their work blends bilingual text, movement, innovative projection mapping and live music.
"An unexpected show. A lot of laughs, ingenious involvement of the disarmed and willing audience, and some seriousness too. Great ending. I hope more people can see it."
Caryl Churchill on Under the Covers by Zoo Indigo
"Garton and Rippel present a dazzling array of comedic talents and charm, which cleverly dissipates the tension. It is unpredictable and edgy and one cannot be comfortable, but it is funny." East Midlands Theatre, ****
