A woman has isolated herself in her room. She waits for a call that might save her.
Instructions on How To Be Alone is an intimate performance within an installation that delves into the cyclical stages of depression through a darkly comic and absurd lens. Combining visual art, sound, text and movement, this multidisciplinary work explores the nuances of isolation, mental health and "self care" culture.
The audience is invited to view the performance through the walls of a bedroom whilst witnessing the character on the phone, desperately waiting for a voice, on the other end of the line...

Audience Responses:
'Such fluid movement! Script was excellent: timing, repetition, imagery, overlap in voices... Enjoyed how outside of time and space it was, but also so relatable to contemporary experience.'
'I felt like I was in that room with her, feeling everything she felt... It’s the day-to-day tasks that make you feel most alone, not lonely... This is life: this is what everyone feels at some point in their life.'
'Reminded me of my teenage years: the imagined world, strange conversations that I’d invent... Being alone is such a unique, yet universal experience.'
